Abstract: Massive stars are objects of great interest in astrophysics, as they drive strong stellar winds, enrich the interstellar medium through nucleosynthesis, and often end their lives as supernovae or compact objects. Since the majority are found in binary or multiple systems, understanding their orbital and physical properties is crucial to constrain fundamental stellar parameters and evolutionary scenarios. This presentation aims to provide an introduction to the study of massive binary systems. We will first review the general aspects of orbital geometry and system characterization. Then, we will outline the main classification schemes and discuss the primary observational techniques, including photometry, spectroscopy, astrometry, and interferometry, emphasizing their respective strengths and limitations. Finally, we will address the analysis tools required for the detailed study of the resulting observations.
